U.K. rockers White Lies are set to visit the U.S. again, but not before teasing with their latest track “Tokyo,“ released in advance of their new album, the chronologically named “Five.” White Lies’ fifth offering marks the band’s decade in service to all things synth — and brooding. “Five” features a return to the tinsel-bright production flair of Psychedelic Furs veteran Ed Buller (Pulp, Spiritualized) and a special production guest touch from British heavy hitter Flood (U2, Nine Inch Nails).
“Tokyo,” takes us on a romp through the electrified bombast with front-man Harry McVeigh’s reverb-laden vocals leading the charge. McVeigh’s coupling of heavy sentiment and even heavier vocals provide a more stadium-ready sound than White Lies’ previous offerings. With contemporaries having come and gone in the decade since their debut, perhaps this is the moment their triumphant sound conquers. “Five” will be out on Feb. 1.
