Video: Wand, ‘Scarecrow’

Sonic changelings Wand return April 19 with their fifth album, “Laughing Matter,” a record the L.A. quintet describes as being about “love in a time of terror.” And you need only to dial into the Yorke-ian existential dread in singer-guitarist Cory Hanson’s voice on the first single “Scarecrow” to think that Wand might have captured this moment in time and put it in a crucible.
The album, the follow-up to 2017’s “Plum” is the fifth since 2013 from the band of Hanson, Sofia Arreguin, Robert Cody, Lee Landey and Evan Burrows. Director Gordon De Los Santos’s video for “Scarecrow” is a dark affair that captures the quintet, and the song, in their plaintive glory. In a word, immersive.
