* Update: As of early 2020, Grady is going by the moniker Grady Strange.

Grady (aka singer-songwriter Graydon Wenrich) is freshly arrived to L.A. from Nashville, and his latest single, “When I Get There” is a proper introduction.

Grady, also a zine editor/publisher and member of the Belmont University-spawned indie trio the Lonely Biscuits (currently on hiatus), self-recorded his new solo songs on a four-track recorder that once belonged to (and was used by) the late CBGB’s founder and owner Hilly Kristal, found at a garage sale for $15. With vocal and moral support from his partner Mackenzie Howe (of the Wild Reeds) and mastered by Zach Dyke, “When I Get There” (which features Joseph Robert Krauss on bass and Kole Sharp on drums) captures the sunny anticipation of moving to a destination with a one-way ticket and not looking back. The low-res video, shot by Grady and various friends, has that intimate home movie feel, complete with VHS tracking marks, kick-flips, puppies, a cameo by Howe and Grady himself serenading viewers. Look forward to some upcoming hangs with friends and enjoy this tune of sorely-needed optimism.
