CLUB ORO

Bay Area-grown, Glendale-based collective CLUB ORO return with their latest single “Thank You, Come Again.” The group, headed up by sibling duo Cassandra and Connor Cronin, offer up the single as homage to the patrons of Krok Kastle, their shared home and event space, “where artists from the L.A. hip-hop, indie-pop, and rock music communities convene to share their work and connect on a platform of openness and respect.”

On “Thank You, Come Again,” the sultry vibes come early, with an immediate plunge into the deep end of a heavily reverbed piano. The sonic bath washes over like bell tolls, rapidly panning left and right as the notes decay. Just as the first notes subside, the song unfurls with a peppering of synth and the slow roll of a trip-hop-inspired shuffle beat. It’s a lushly produced sound with the syncopation of Connor’s base and Cassandra’s lilting vocals as the thread running through it. Three-quarters of the way through, the song breaks to inject an audio clip of “That’ll be $14.80.” It’s a deft move, one that affirms the sweetness of the aural landscape. “Thank You, Come Again,” undulates in a way that exudes gratitude for the desire to move, each element informing on a level that borders instinctive.
