Albert Hammond Jr. brought the final show in support of his latest record “Francis Trouble” (which is one year old today) to the Fonda Theatre on Friday night, and he sold the place out. The excitement of AHJ being back in Los Angeles — the last time was almost exactly a year ago at the Troubadour — was shared by both him and the eager crowd. Early on in his set, he leapt off the stage mid-song, walked straight into the densely packed pit with mic in hand, continued the song amongst his fans, before being carried by the crowd back to the stage. He later told the pit, “I wanna get out there so bad!,” which was met with welcoming shouts and open arms. Before closing out his set, AHJ gave away one his guitars with his own personal strap attached to one lucky fan. Despite the large crowd at the Fonda, AHJ brought a personal vibe to the space and made the entire venue feel involved with his energetic performance.
Opening up the evening was In The Valley Below, the duo who once called Los Angeles home and are now based in Grand Rapids, Mich. The duo, Angela Gail and Jeffrey Jacob, have a new album (and companion movie) “The Pink Chateau” coming out April 26.
