L.A. rapper Nipsey Hussle has died after suffering gunshot wounds outside his Marathan Clothing store on Slauson Avenue, NBC News is reporting. He was 33.

Born Ermias Asghedom, he grew up in L.A.’s Crenshaw neighborhood. He had joined the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips and in 2005 he began selling mixtapes out of the trunk of his car. He rose to prominence in the latter part of last decade, earning a deal with Epic Records before departing the label and starting his own. His debut album “Victory Lap” finally arrived in 2018 and got a Grammy nomination for Best Rap album. In recent years, he had become an entrepreneur, and his clothing store opened in 2017.

Multiple reports said two other men were injured in the shooting, and that the suspect was still at large.
