Cass McCombs pumped Hollywood’s Fonda Theatre full of life (and bubbles) on Saturday night. Surely a show for true fans, McCombs and his band brought a nearly two-hour set — peppering songs from his latest release “Tip of the Sphere” with some extended jams of the old gold. McCombs was also joined on stage by opener Sam Evian, who added a touch of sax, and guitar virtuoso Blake Mills taking the lead. Just before bowing out, McCombs filled the packed Fonda with a sea of bubbles that dazzled and delighted.
Evian and his band warmed up the stage with their own brand of catchy vintage indie rock, having the packed Fonda toe-tapping their way into the night.
