Ears Wide Open: Almost Monday

Young San Diego trio Almost Monday have released an anthem for a busted world — one that suggests we should just dance it back together.
In “Broken People,” the band — singer-bassist Dawson Daugherty and guitarists Luke Fabry and Cole Clisby — melds old-school disco-rock with the sounds of contemporary alternative pop being made by the likes of the 1975, Two Door Cinema Club and Walk the Moon. It’s not just catchy, it’s aggressively addictive, thanks to a relentless chorus that builds and builds and breaks like the waves these surfer dudes like to catch.
“Broken People,” released today, was made with producer Simon Oscroft (The Aces, MOTHXR) and mixer Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Walk The Moon, the Maine, among many others). Stay footloose, friends.
