Jenny Lewis sparkled in a lot of ways on Saturday night at the Hollywood Palladium.
First, there were the songs from her acclaimed new album “On the Line” — she performed nine of its 11 tracks in all. There was her luxurious gown. And there were poignant visits to some of the touchstones in her career: three songs from her 2006 album with the Watson Twins, “Rabbit Fur Coat;” a Rilo Kiley gem from 2002; and the title tracks from her albums “The Voyager” (2014) and “Acid Tongue” (2008).
The latter song was the closer for Lewis’ hometown show, sung a capella along with Jackson Browne and her backing band.
Browne had earlier joined Lewis for a rendition of “These Days,” a song Browne originally wrote in the 1960s and released himself three years before Lewis was born. After that, the duo performed their new collaboration, “Under the Moon.”
Setlist: Heads Gonna Roll, Wasted Youth, The Big Guns, Head Underwater, Happy, The Voyager, Do Si Do, She’s Not Me, Hollywood Lawn, Just One of the Guys, On the Line, These Days, Under the Supermoon, Little White Dove, Born Secular, With Arms Outstretched. Encore: Dogwood, Party Clown, Red Bull & Hennessy, See Fernando, Acid Tongue.
