As Robert Smith hinted in an interview two weeks ago, the Cure will headline a Los Angeles-area festival.

Pasadena Daydream will go off Saturday, Aug. 31, at Brookside Park adjacent to the Rose Bowl. The Cure-curated lineup will feature Pixies, Deftones, Mogwai, a reunited Throwing Muses, the Joy Formidable, Chelsea Wolfe, the Twilight Sad, Emma Ruth Rundle and Kaelan Mikla. Deftones, Mogwai and Kristin Hersh (of Throwing Muses) played the Cure’s Meltdown Festival last year.

Smith had said that he wanted a West Coast event modeled after the band’s 40th-anniversary in Hyde Park. “Hyde Park was a fabulous experience, the whole day was really magical, and we wanted to create something with a similar celebratory vibe for this summer,” he said.

Tickets for the Goldenvoice-promoted show will be $150 for general admission and $300 for VIP. One dollar from each ticket goes to a variety of charities.

They go on sale here at noon Friday.
