L.A. trio Pinky Pinky were seemingly destined to come together after vocalist-drummer Anastasia Sanchez, guitarist Isabelle Fields and bassist Eva Chambers met in middle and high school. Transitioning from family bands and violin studies to their DIY battle axes and sticks, they’ve found where they are meant to be with each other. They’ve now polished their performance to a gleaming shimmer after two EPs and touring (currently heading back to the States from Europe to support the Nude Party and then the Growlers later this summer). Their latest single, “Mr. Sunday,” off their upcoming debut album “Turkey Dinner,” is a snappy ’60s garage-punk confection of sweetness with a bitter center, with Sanchez singing, “He betrayed me but I / Can’t seem to feel what / He’s done to me / I’m numb from pain ’cause / He don’t love me / Oh Mr. Sunday / He treats me bad / Oh won’t you tell me / How worn I am.” It’s classic dysfunctional love in the modern age of disconnectedness.
“Turkey Dinner,” produced by Hanni El Khatib and Jonny Bell, releases on June 14 via Innovative Leisure.
