Bandie (formerly known as Bandy) is the name for the garage-pop ministrations of songwriter Brian Hill, whose buzzing, guitar-driven songs are the sonic equivalent of a pretty backyard fireworks display. His new single “It’s Getting Late” is a positively exuberant fuzz-bomb that harks back to indie-pop’s original incarnation: sweetly melodic power-pop on a bed of noisy guitars.
Don’t overthink this one; just hum along.
“Everyone knows what it feels like to be up late and tired but still awake, having fun with friends or a significant other or a pet or anyone. That’s exactly what ‘It’s Getting Late’ is about,” Hill says. “I wrote it super-late one night when I definitely should have been sleeping, but I’m glad I wasn’t, because this song popped up.”
Produced by Kristian Riley (engineer on Silversun Pickups’ album “Swoon,” among his other credits) and mixed by Doug Boehm, the single is the first from Bandie’s forthcoming EP.
