A memorial fundraiser will be held on Sunday at the Lodge Room to honor Ras G, the beloved producer, DJ and staple of the L.A. beat scene who died on Monday at age 39.

Proceeds from Sunday’s “Ohhh Rasss” show, which starts at 6 p.m. and will feature special performances all evening, will benefit the family of the artist, born Gregory Shorter, who co-founded Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label. A GoFundMe campaign has been started, as well. The cause of Shorter’s death was not given, but last last year he revealed he had been battling diabetes and other issues.

As prolific as he was adventurous, Ras G released music under his own name and as Ras G & the Afrikan Space Program, as well as producing, remixing or collaborating with artists such as FlyLo, Open Mike Eagle, Thundercat and Mono/Poly.
