► U.K. quartet Keane, whose new album “Cause and Effect” comes out next month, headlines a sold-out show at the Roxy.
► Seattle’s SYML, the solo project of Brian Fennell of the indie-rock band Barcelona, headlines the Troubadour, with Exes opening.
► Pop singer Spencer Sutherland plays a sold-out show at the Moroccan Lounge in support of his EP “None of This Has Been About You,” with Justice Carradine opening.
► Dielines [see “Long Enough to End”] and Cuesta Loeb [see “Plug Into Me”] head up a very good night at Resident — get there early for Twin Oaks and Possible Oceans.
► And August’s excellent residencies continue: Automatic at the Echo (with Egrets on Ergot, C57BL/6 and Terminal A); A.O. Gerber at the Bootleg Theater (with Sofia Bolt and GABI JR); and Love Nothing at the Satellite (with Jet Trash and Gracie Gray).
