Premiere: Marcus Buser, ‘All Night’

“All Night” is Marcus Buser’s first solo single, but he is not new. The Seattle area-bred, L.A.-based singer-songwriter co-fronts the garage-rock quartet Bird Concerns, and he mans the bass for artists such as Laura Jean Anderson, Jamie Commons and Van William.

Buser’s forthcoming EP “Bad Dreams,” arriving in early 2020 on Blossom Records, figures to be outside those artists’ boxes. Buser looks to the cool jazz era and hip-hop for inspiration, and Buser’s slice of indie soul, and the way he croons it, probably rests in the long shadow of songwriters like Chet Baker. In fact, “All Night” is like touching velvet after a long day of digging ditches.

“This song was inspired by all the late nights driving home, listening to Sam Cooke, after a long day of work or a late gig, knowing my baby’s waiting for me,” Buser says.

The EP was produced by Bryan Dedlow at Bamboo Diner Records by Bryan Dedlow and features backing vocals from Raven Scott. The artist’s live band, Marcus Buser & the Space Heaters, make their debut at the single release party tonight.
