Video: Coastal Clouds, ‘Comes From a Time’

Singer-songwriter Roberto “Berto” Rodriguez debuted as Coastal Clouds two summers ago with an EP of postcard-perfect pop: warm guitars, ethereal production and vivid imagery crooned with a boy-next-door guilelessness.

“Comes From a Time” is the latest slice of pastoral splendor from the Puerto Rico-born, Florida-reared, Santa-Monica-based multi-instrumentalist. It’s the first single from a forthcoming full-length Rodriguez made with producer Billy Mohler for MAKE Records. Over swells of jangling guitar, Rodriguez wonders about his emotional veracity: “Does your heart tell the truth / when you think you want it to?” The song is over in under three minutes, passing like a cloud that briefly splays the sun’s rays at sunset. And you can’t wait for the next one.
