► Weekend 2 of the free Hermosa Beach Summer Series gets underway, with the White Buffalo heading up a lineup that includes Steve Byrne, Pounded by the Surf, Trapdoor Social and more. It goes off at the South Side of the Hermosa Beach Pier. [Set times here.]

► Shannon Lay celebrates the release of her new album “August,” her first for Sub Pop, with a show at Pico Union Project, supported by Mikal Cronin and Kacey Johansing.
► The Mondo Hollywood festival goes off at Catch One with a lineup topped by Man… or Astroman?, L.A. Witch, Mark Sultan and Bloodshot Bill.
► The Five07 Creative Fest brings Yoshi Flower, Hot Flash Heat Wave, Winnetka Bowling League, La Bouquet, UFO UFO and more to King Gillette Ranch.
► It’s a free afternoon of music in Santa Monica at the Montana Avenue Summer Fest, with a lineup of local artists including Trishes, Alt Bloom, Lucy & La Mer, Dylan Dunlap, Velvet Starlings, Bellsaint, REL, Rett Madison and more.
► San Cha performs at today’s edition of the free Off the 405 series at the Getty Center.
► And the Palms headline the Troubadour, supported by Bay Ledges, Magic Bronson and Rackets.
