L.A. rockers Dream Phases emerged in 2017 as the bedroom recording project of singer-songwriter and guitarist Brandon Graham. Since then, the band has expanded to include Graham’s drumming brother Shane, guitarist Keveen Baudouin, keyboardist Anthony Marks and bassist Dylan Nelson, who join the frontman in a merry romp through ’60s and ’70s psychedelia and garage-rock.

On Friday, Dream Phases announced that their debut full-length, “So Long, Yesterday,” would be out Oct. 18 via Nomad Eel Records (Imaad Wasif, Zig Zags, Livingmore) and Lunar Ruins (Haunted Summer, Avi Buffalo).

With the news came the first single “Frightened Man,” which Brandon Graham says dates back to right after he formed the project. Feeding off a sturdy vintage guitar riff, the tune is a harmony-rich, slightly country-fied reminder to go for it. “Borders and barbed wire have left you a frightened man,” Dream Phases lament.

“The song is about not missing out on lives grand adventures and possibilities, and not giving into fear,” Graham says. “It’s really easy to give up or settle, especially as you get older, but life is really too short to not go fully for your dreams.”
