Ears Wide Open: Hello Forever

Hello Forever are a collective of seven musicians who hail from Topanga Canyon — and maybe even a wormhole — and engage in the business of making feel-good music. While there has been no shortage of artists, especially of the folk and electronic pop variety, whose mission has seemed expressly to spread musical sunshine, Hello Forever harks to another time: the 1960s. The band, comprised of Sam Birdy, Gabe Stout, Andy Jimenez, Joey Briggs, Molly Pease, Anand Darsie and Jaron Crespi, twist their AM radio bubblegum into something marginally more modern on their first single, “Some Faith.” The song might make those who were conscious for the Summer of Love smile; some might file it under hippy-dippy platitudes. Others might set out in search of a secret commune surely hidden somewhere in Topanga State Park, just to find out what they’re growing (besides flowers).
