Charismatic pop-rock outfit AJR stormed the Shrine Auditorium on Thursday for a night of effervescent jams — selling out the venue with ease. Riding high on their third studio album “Neotheater” the Shrine made for a spirited stop on their extensive world tour. Near the middle of AJR’s set, trumpeter JJ Kirkpatrick hopped on stage and performed a staggering 10-song medley of the band’s songs.

Playing to a literal sea of people, the band’s die-hard fans sang along with gusto with the soaring lyrics and melodies threatening to blow the roof off.

Tessa Violet opened with an infectious set of bespoke pop gems.
