Esbie Fonte

Singer-songwriter Esbie Fonte established herself as a rising goth-pop siren with the release of her third EP, “Cemetery Drive,” earlier this year, and she is no less bewitching on her new single, “Cobwebs.”

The L.A. songstress peeks her head into dusty corners on the new single, which features eerie guitar from collaborator Peter Tilley and trap percussion that sounds like a ghost opening and slamming a window. Yeah, it’s kind of Halloween-spooky in a sly, alt-pop way. The song imagines sleepless nights in a darkened room, feeling haunted by both the past and present. It sure beats misguided covers of Blink 182, and with any luck Fonte will invite listeners into more mesmerizing corners of her imagination.
