Cartalk, the brainchild of singer-songwriter Chuck Moore, has released the third single from the forthcoming album “Pass Like Pollen.” As with the first two, “Sleep” displays Moore’s penchant for turning heartache and angst into buoyant, slightly twangy rock songs.
Over insistent, bruising drums, Moore sings, “I can’t write songs about you before I sleep,” an admission, the songwriter says, “to the fact that there is hurt in holding, a resistance to rest.” It’s the tune Cartalk generally closes their live performances with. “There’s some reason to why that is,” Moore says. “I find new ones from time to time.”
