The House of Love, whose swirling, psychedelic Britpop made them a favorite of fans and critics in the late ’80s and early ’90s, have scheduled an 11-date North American tour celebrating their 30-year anniversary. Their rare trip across the Atlantic winds up with a Part Time Punks-sponsored show on May 23 at downtown L.A.’s Palace Theatre.
“Over the years we have had many offers to come to North America, but I have sadly never been able to persuade the band,” the band’s co-founder Guy Chadwick said on social media. “Which is why I have put together a fantastic new band of great musicians to do this tour — and it sounds like vintage House of Love.”
The House of Love played six reunion shows in 2018 to mark the 30-year anniversary of of “The House of Love,” which was issued by the legendary Creation Records. Their second album, also titled “The House of Love” (referred to as The Butterfly album because of its cover) followed in 1990.
