Wolf Parade breezed through L.A. on Thursday night in support of new album, “Thin Mind.” The synth-heavier new material fit in virtually seamlessly with songs from their first four albums during their crisply played, upbeat set.
They devoted better than a third of the set to the new album, also dipping back in their catalog to revisit two favorites from 2005’s “Apologies to the Queen Mary” (including “Disco Sheets” and “Shine a Light” during the encore) and three from 2008’s “At Mount Zoomer.” After Canadian indie-rockers Land of Talk opened the night, Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner brought out L.A. City Council District 4 candidate Nithya Raman for a mini-campaign rally.
Setlist: Soldier’s Grin, Grounds for Divorce, Under Glass, Julia Take Your Man Home, You’re Dreaming, Baby Blue, Fine Young Cannibals, Out of Control, The Static Age, I’ll Believe in Anything, This Heart’s on Fire, Fall Into the Future, Forest Green. Encore: Disco Sheets, Shine a Light, Kissing the Beehive
