More than any song on last year’s EPs, Jane Holiday’s new single “All Yours” seems lifted from the remainders of some ’70s/’80s Smash Hits compilation. The Doobie Brothers, Billy Ocean and Hall & Oates all made it. But Jane Holiday (aka songwriter Raj Jain)? Oh, he wasn’t born yet.
The sleek, joyous new single, produced by Ryan Spraker (Eli “Paperboy” Reed), has a magnificently squishy backstory, too. “‘All Yours’ is a classic tale of unrequited love,” the singer-songwriter says. “A song about my first real girlfriend leaving for school, and me being so heartbroken and willing to stick around and wait her out. Oddly, it worked and we’ve been together for 10 years.”
What happens when “unrequited” has a happy ending? Jane Holiday hits the high notes, that’s what.
