Cruel World Festival: Morrissey, Bauhaus, Blondie, Devo and more coming in May

Morrissey, Bauhaus, Blondie and Devo are set to headline the Cruel World Festival on May 2, Goldenvoice announced today, at the Grounds at Dignity Health Sports Park (fka the Home Depot and StubHub Center) at CalState Dominguez Hills in Carson.

Slated as a one-day-only event, other alternative rock acts from the ‘80s and ‘90s that have signed on are the Psychedelic Furs, Echo & The Bunnymen, Violent Femmes, the Church, English Beat, Public Image Ltd., Gary Numan, Marc Almond, Berlin, Missing Persons, Christian Death, Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel, the Meteors and Bad Manners. More recent local L.A. bands include She Wants Revenge, Drab Majesty, Cold Cave, London After Midnight, 45 Grave and (the return of) Sextile. Black Marble, Softkill, Toronto-based TR/ST, Oakland’s Blaqk Audio and the U.K.’s the KVB round out the bill.

Tiered general admission tickets start at $135, tiered VIP tickets begin at $225 and Super VIP tickets are $350 (all plus fees). The public on-sale begins Friday at noon, and pre-sale starts Thursday at noon with a pre-registration code (sign up here). More info here.
