“It’s great to be home in L.A.”

Before hitting the open road for her Stardust tour, ZZ Ward made a pit stop at the venerated Troubadour. Kicking off the night with her December ’19 single, “Sex and Stardust” the Pennsylvania native had the sold-out crowd in the palm of her hand. After rallying with “Ghost” and “Put the Gun Down,” Ward looked to the audience and said, “If you don’t mind I’d like to play some brand-new unreleased songs.”

Midway through her set Ward covered (playing harmonica) “Don’t You Mind People Grinning in Your Face,” followed by her new single “Break Her Heart,” rounding out the set with her 2012 single “Move Like U Stole It” to uproarious applause.

A three-song encore of “Ride,” “Cannonball” and “Blue Eyes Blind” closed the night with Ward belting out atop a speaker in the audience.

Nashville-based Patrick Droney opened the night playing a 30-minute set — mentioning it was his first time playing at the Troubadour, that it’s been a dream of his to play there and thanked all his friends who were there supporting him.
