L.A.’s Analog Party flies the flag for the heyday of the grunge/industrial music era. The duo — vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Animaan Pathak and bassist Charles Horin — makes heavy, confrontational music that worships at the shrine of the guitar riff.
Last year, they released their debut EP, “Model Youth,” which was made at London’s Echo Zoo Studios with producer Christoph Skirl. The aggro title track comes out swinging, but “Sunspots” is the EP’s soft spot, oozing dread as it does its four-minute slow burn. Jennifer Akerman (Final Child) collages some evocative images together for the “Sunspots” video, If you banged heads in the ’90s or just want to hear that era’s echoes, Analog Party is making the noise.
