Coronavirus be damned, fans flocked to the Forum on Tuesday night in droves to see the wizard of Oz himself, Kevin Parker. With a close to sold-out crowd, hopefully the only thing fans caught was the vibe — a veritable sea of devotees singing along, bathed in an impressive light show, swooning with every sonic incantation. Boasting a 50/50 split between the 2015 behemoth “Currents” and this year’s “The Slow Rush,” Tame Impala offered up a show not to be missed — including the breakout single “Elephant,” or “the song that paid for half of my house” as Parker puts it.
Opening the night was YouTube upstart Clairo, playing a bevy of wistful bedroom-pop gems with an instantly danceable R&B backbone.
Setlist: One More Year, Borderline, Reality In Motion, Posthumous Forgiveness, Alter Ego, Perfect Illusion (Lady Gaga cover), Expectation, Lost In Yesterday, Elephant, Breathe Deeper, Apocalypse Dreams, Past Life, Nangs, Feels Like We Only Go Backwards, New Person, Same Old Mistakes, Is It True, Glimmer, Let It Happen. Encore: The Less I Know the Better, Eventually.
