Video premiere: Irontom, ‘Big Shot’

Irontom have been one of Los Angeles’ most electrifying rock bands for years now. The quartet’s 2017 album “Partners” captured the essence of the quartet’s no-holds-barred hybrid of indie-rock, glam and metal, but their fires burn brightest live, where frontman Harry Hayes’ histrionics, guitarist Zach Irons searing riffs and the pummeling of rhythm section Dan Saslow and Dylan Williams make for a spectacle.
After last year’s “Kid Midnight” EP, the quartet is gearing up for the release of a new album (date TBA). The typically audacious “Big Shot” is the second single, following “Call Me the West,” and Irontom brings the heavy on both tracks, each produced by John Fields.
“‘Big Shot’ is about a kid falling in love and deciding to stop at nothing to prove himself to the one he desires,” Hayes says. “A bold declaration meant to be heard over all the others in the loud and chaotic world.”
The band gets down and dirty in director Jackie Kulla’s video, its style vaguely inspired a by ’80s Talking Heads videos. It’s not unlike the feeling fans get after witnessing Irontom in a club: Somebody is gonna need a shower.
