Ears Wide Open: Black Pool

Southern California has no shortage of singer-songwriters whose work exude a “beachy vibe.” Long Beach native Max Lindberg, who makes music under the name Black Pool, left the U.S. to find his.
Embracing a true vagabond spirit, Lindberg moved to Nicaragua, where he lived in a small house near the beach and played in local bars at night. The video for “Be Yourself” makes it look pretty idyllic, with the artist tooling down a dirt road on a motorbike and bonding with his dog, and the song, like the others on his new EP “Just Love” capture the hug-everybody spirit of troubadours down through the ages.
Fans of Hozier and Donavon Frankenreiter will find some warm-and-fuzzies on Black Pool’s new EP, which if nothing else makes one long for an afternoon in a hammock and a furry friend.
“Just Love” is Black Pool’s second EP, following 2017’s “For Millie.”
