Two people who attended the CRSSD Festival on March 7 and 8 in San Diego have tested positive for the coronavirus, fest organizers FNGRS CRSSD announced today via Instagram.
The biannual electronic music festival, held in the spring and the fall, drew thousands to San Diego’s Waterfront Park this year to see the likes of Gesaffelstein, RUFUS DU SOL, Carl Cox, Chris Lake and more. Officials told the San Diego Union-Tribune it was likely the virus was contracted by the attendees before the festival and not at it.
At the time the event was held, San Diego County had no reported cases of COVID-19.
The organizers’ statement:
We’ve been monitoring rumors since they surfaced, and last night it was finally confirmed to us by local health authorities that two people who attended Crssd Festival tested positive for coronavirus.
These individuals are believed to have contracted the virus prior to the festival.
As soon as authorities officially confirmed this we notified all attendees directly.
Please continue to practice social distancing and check the online resources for guidelines
from national and local health authorities.
San Diego health officials have asked us to direct you to www.coronavirus-sd.com for the latest information. We can also be reached at Crssd @ Crssd.com.
Reaction to the news online was surprisingly mixed. Some who opted out of attending the festival said it should have been canceled, and others complained of gate-crashers and the event being oversold. Yet others posted comments like “NO RAGRETS!” (sic). Major music events in many cities continued being held into the early part of last week before warnings from health officials started a cascade of cancellations and postponements.
