Video: Thrillhouse, ‘Lesser’

Thrillhouse are a bedroom indie outfit from Brighton, U.K., who have released but two singles, each anthemic in their unique way. In December, the trio of Alistair Scott, Jackie B. Nielsen and Sam Strawberry debuted with the punchy “One of These Days,” a five-minute jolt of caffeine that sounds like Arcade Fire doing funk.
They one-upped themselves this month with “Lesser,” which is reminiscent in the best way of U.K. rockers British Sea Power. From its motorik beginnings, the song unfolds with the grandest of intentions: “I wanna be a million things all at the same time,” Strawberry sings, later confessing .
The bonus is the animated video for “Lesser,” which proved a month’s work for Nielsen and Strawberry. The line-drawing clip follows a bicyclist ascending and descending the treacherous slopes of a fantastical, treacherous landscape filled with monsters and other perils.
