The 1975 continue to surprise.
Tonight the standout British quartet released the new single “Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America,” which sounds like a mouthful except it’s a beautiful ballad that features Phoebe Bridgers on vocals. The song, which features muted horns and pedal steel, features a subtle gender reversal in the verses, with Matthew Healy professing to be in love with a boy and Bridgers taking the verse declaring love for a girl named Claire.
In other news, the 1975’s forthcoming album “Notes on a Conditional Form” has been pushed back to a May 22 release.
The 1975 and Bridgers will be tourmates at some point this year. Their May 7 date at the Forum has been postponed.
