L.A. native Jean Claude White — known musically as JEĀN CLĀUDE — has been “re-introduced” via the new single “God of Grace,” a collaboration with Paul Banks of Interpol.

It was back in 2015 that the artist debuted the singles “IPA” and “Tongue Tied” — which are now being remastered for his new album, forthcoming via International House of Sound.

The new synth-pop ballad “God of Grace” finds the singer-songwriter and pianist, possessed with a heavenly voice, striking an evocative note of unity, relevant not just during the pandemic but applicable to other societal ills such as domestic and gun violence. “I was told, we all turn gray / Fade away, disengage
 / But what if we were one / No more killing, war and guns,” he sings.

All of the proceeds from the single benefit MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund.

JEĀN CLĀUDE, born to a French Guyanese mother and American father during the L.A. riots, studied classical piano, jazz, opera and musical theater at an early age, eventually studying at London Metropolitan University. The collaboration with Banks ended up happening after the pair met at a Coachella 2015 after-party, he told Flaunt Magazine, where the track premiered, with Banks ending up giving him invalauble feedback.

“‘God of Grace’ was written to instill hope and unity across the world,” JEĀN CLĀUDE says. “Amidst the current pandemic, I hope the song will not only aid us in reflecting on how we’ve impacted earth & one another, but also be the anthemic healing we need.”
