Wait. Think. Fast.

Husband-wife duo Wait. Think. Fast. premiere the video for their transformative new single “Chorus of Trees” in today’s episode of QUARANTUNES. Along with the artfully edited visual, they chat about quarantine, their anguish with the world, their hopes for change and a playlist suitable for the couple’s long runs.

THE LATEST FROM WAIT. THINK. FAST.

L.A.’s Wait. Think. Fast. — the project of husband-wife duo Matthew and Jacqueline Santillan Beighley — premiere the video for their transformative new song “Chorus of Trees,” which was released May 21. It’s an artfully edited montage of clips from the band and their friends from around the world. “We asked some of our friends to send in 20-second videos of their realities during the lockdown,” Jacqueline says. “We received shots from people in places ranging from Germany to Guatemala — some people living alone with no human contact for weeks, others with small children, homes, walks … and Alhambra!” What’s remarkable is how the Beighleys’ home clips — Matthew playing guitar in a window, Jacqueline singing into a mirror — make visual sense with the snippets they were emailed. The video adds even more depth to a song that, as we said when it was released, should resonate deeply … and forever.

HOW ARE YOU HOLDING UP AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MANAGE THE ‘STAY AT HOME’ EDICT?

We’re good. Feeling anguish about the world, but staying engaged, staying busy. We’re finishing videos and a bunch of singles we’ll be releasing for the rest of the year and taking care of our family. Also, there’s lots of running! We’re both runners. Matthew runs 35 miles a week these days.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN THIS IS OVER?

A new president, a real discourse about racism, poverty, environmental justice and public health in this country, the re-opening of schools, playing music with other people and enjoying live music again. I miss it desperately. We also miss our friends!! What is life without your people??

ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PLAYLIST?

This is music that brings us joy during our runs — which are like meditations, or when spending time with our girls, or during those rare moments of quiet.
