“They throw away black people like paper towels,” Anderson .Paak raps on his new single “Lockdown,” which is the Oxnard-bred rapper’s way of saying “Lockdown? What lockdown?”

Jay Rock delivers a vital verse a minute and a half into the song, as they narrate what they’ve seen in the streets at Black Lives Matter protests, pointing out the differences between now and ’92 and talking about getting hit with rubber bullets. (There’s a wound on Paak’s forehead.) As .Paak said in releasing the single, the people are rising.
