Ai Bendr is the nom de tune of Chioma Ai Bendors Ilozor. Just 17 years old, Ilozor was born in Australia, has triple citizenship in Nigeria, Australia and the U.S. and is freshly graduated from a college-prep school with plans to attend music school at the University of Michigan this fall.

After self-releasing a handful of singles, Bendr made her proper debut today with the single “Love Me Low.” Created with L.A.-based producer Simon Jay and co-written by Luke Shrestha (together, they’re the duo Chapters), the song showcases Bendr’s warm, mesmerizing voice — measured yet evocative. Billie Eilish comparisons will be inevitable (in fact, Bendr has a cover of “Everything I Wanted” in her arsenal), but “Love Me Low” makes a case in 2 1/2 minutes that she has her own thing.
