David Ryan Harris, performing with a full band, will do the first-ever live-streamed show from the Hotel Café tonight. The singer-songwriter-guitarist — known for playing guitar and singing in John Mayer’s band besides his solo projects and writing and production work for prominent artists — this spring released a new album with his collective The Hush Money. “Maiden America” is a collection of re-imagined songs by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen, Nina Simone, Rage Against the Machine, Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan (Mayer and Derek Trucks are featured on the latter’s “Forever Young”). Harris had planned a “Victory Lap” tour in support of that release and his 2017 album “Song for Other People,” but COVID-19 sabotaged that. So his virtual victory lap starts tonight.
