Quarantunes: A playlist by Weathers

Weathers

The two singles released by L.A. alt-rockers Weathers this year capture the arc of 2020 — “Feel Good” in January, “C’est La Vie” last month. In today’s QUARANTUNES, frontman Cameron Boyer talks post-pandemic plans and shares his “daily drive” playlist full of hits.

THE LATEST FROM WEATHERS

In a parallel universe, Weathers would be celebrating the end of a big two-month tour, which the L.A. quartet built toward by releasing a slew of songs in 2019 and two more this year. But, as their latest single attests, “C’est La Vie.” Or, in the words of frontman Cameron Boyer, this year has been about “accepting the things that you can not change, and coming to terms with who you are.” Weathers, who burst on the scene in 2016 with “Happy Pills” and two years later released their debut album “Kids in the Night,” kicked off 2020 energetically enough — normally, songs like “Feel Good” would have set the tone for a big year. As Boyers says in the interview below, they’re just biding their time right now and plotting their big return.

Weathers will be doing a full-band online show live from the Federal Bar at 11 a.m. Saturday. Info here.

HOW ARE YOU HOLDING UP AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MANAGE THE ‘STAY AT HOME’ EDICT?

Cameron Boyer: Spending a lot of time on different artistic platforms. Since we can’t tour, we’re focusing on film currently. Planning some exciting things for this fall.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN THIS IS OVER?

Tour. Absolutely miss our fans and that energy of a live show.

ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PLAYLIST?
