Burger Records to fold entirely, co-founder says

Burger Records will “fold completely,” co-founder Sean Bohrman told Pitchfork on Tuesday night.

The label, besieged by sexual misconduct allegations involving Burger employees and some of its affiliate bands, had announced a restructuring plan on Monday that involved Bohrman and co-founder Lee Rickard departing and the company rebranding as BRGR RECS.

Bohrman’s announcement came after a statement earlier Tuesday night from Jessa Zapor-Gray, who as part of the restructuring had been named interim president of the rebranded label but later decided against assuming the role.

Earlier Tuesday, Spaceland announced that Burgerama was being canceled; the Bay Area promoters who partnered with the label on the Burger Boogaloo in Oakland severed ties; more allegations surfaced; and Burger experienced significant blowback for its restructuring plan, which included adding an all-woman imprint to the label, BRGRRRL.

The label has also deleted all its social media platforms.
