Alejandro Aranda returns Friday with his second full-length as Scarypoolparty, the concept album “Doom Hologram” — and plays a drive-in show in O.C. to celebrate. In today’s QUARANTUNES, he shares how he’s doing during lockdown and a playlist that’ll rock your world.

THE LATEST FROM SCARYPOOLPARTY

As Scarypoolparty, Alejandro Aranda has rocketed from busking dishwasher to “American Idol” sensation with affecting acoustic songs to arena-ready electronic rockers, as evidenced by his 2019 album “Exit Form.” He returns on Friday with “Doom Hologram,” and even deeper dive into the world of orchestrated electro-rock, nu-metal and heavy pop. “‘Doom Hologram’ is a story from beginning to end,” Aranda says. “It is a conceptual piece of music that spans from classical to pop to metal.” Check out the album’s ethereal lead track “Return2Sender” below, along with the video, released in March, for “Millennial Love” from his 2019 album.

The 26-year-old celebrates the release with a drive-in show Friday night at the Grove of Anaheim as part of the Drive-In OC series.

HOW ARE YOU HOLDING UP AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MANAGE THE ‘STAY AT HOME’ EDICT?

Honestly, I’m just watching a lot of Netflix and anime, making music and going on walks to keep the mind busy.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN THIS IS OVER?

Going on tour!!!!!!

ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PLAYLIST?

The vibe of this playlist is kind of loud and heavy, but also has some chill elements to it. It’s the mix of songs that I tend to rotate on my Spotify playlists.
