Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Henry Hall creates alternative pop with comic relief. And his new single, “Guy” — the first from his forthcoming debut album “Neato” — should bring you a smile or two.

“Guy” is accompanied by a lighthearted, laid-back music video in which Hall is catching the waves on a surfboard. The video, directed by his father Brad Hall, changes back and forth between Henry surfing and swimming underwater. As the scenes change back and forth, so does his attire: from a business suit to a wetsuit.

The track starts very relaxed and chill, but as it approaches the bridge, it picks up steam and momentum. The track climaxes with Henry repeating “guy” as he continues to go up in pitch, ultimately ending on a very high falsetto note. This track showcases Hall’s impressive vocal range, but also his musicianship, as he is a talented multi-instrumentalist who plays the majority of the instruments in his music.

“Guy” is the first original from Henry this year, following last year’s “Questions, Comments, Concerns” EP. Produced by the artist and Dylan Bostick of Heavy Duty (producer Ariel Rechtshaid’s company), “Neato” is due out Oct. 16.
