A trio of new singles that have their hooks in us …

FOREIGN AIR, “Ultra Mega Love”

Genre-fluid, bicoastal duo Foreign Air have released a handful of singles from their debut album “Good Morning Stranger” (out Oct. 16). Their latest, “Ultra Mega Love,” is a spaghetti Western-turned-baggy rocker (think: Kasabian) with a pop chorus. “Some of our favorite guitar tones and sounds on the album are on this song,” the duo says of the single, produced by Konrad Snyder (Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Milo Greene). “It comes from a childlike nature of exploring ideas and letting the unexpected happen. Lyrically the song is about embracing the weirdness inside each of us — at the end of the day that is ultimately what brings us all together.”

LONE KODIAK, “PDX ’97”

On the heels of their bold rocker “Make It a Weapon,” the L.A. trio of Dainéal Parker, Daniel Alden and Joshua Harris spin an expansive tale of teenage runaways falling in love. “I normally shy away from writing anything too personal or plainly autobiographical,” Parker says, “but the vibe of this song just took me right back to those hot days and cold nights I spent wrapped around the finger of a girl, and our summer trying to find couches to crash on but often settling for cardboard.” Lone Kodiak’s new EP is on the way.

DEATH VALLEY GIRLS, “Under the Spell of Joy”

On the heels of “The Universe” and “Hold My Hand,” Death Valley Girls unveiled the title track to their album “Under the Spell of Joy” (out Oct. 2). It’s what the band calls “a space-gospel record” and it piles on the vocals, with many songs featuring as many as 12 singers, including a kids choir. Maybe the most incantational garage-rock album ever? Try it: “Sing for joy! Sing for love!”
