Juliana Giraffe and Ari Balouzian of Midnight Sister have returned after three years with the release of their new music video and single, “Wednesday Baby,” to be featured on their forthcoming LP via Jagjaguwar.

The video, directed by Oliver Bernsen, follows the singer through a gloomy day with an odd companion. Singing the days of the week, Giraffe and her friend embrace their time together whilst enjoying the little things in life. The duo says the video is “about coming to terms with the end and the way sometimes out of death or loss, space is made for something new and beautiful to grow.”

From a songwriting perspective, “Wednesday Baby” was named after Giraffe’s rescue dog, “Wednesday,” which explains why the music is mellow, a playful baroque pop tune that would not have been out of place in a ’60s foreign film.

This is the San Fernando Valley duo’s first release since their 2017 debut LP “Saturn Over Sunset,” which featured the single, “Leave You.”

As the video for “Midnight Baby” suggests, it’s best to relish those carefree days when they come around.
