Besides wreaking havoc on purse thieves, L.A. trio Magic Giant have spent a good chunk of 2020 as do-gooders.
They staged a series of four mini-festivals on Instagram Live called “Live From Quarantine,” and with the help of some actors and musicians, raised more than $125,000 for the Frontline Responders Fund. And they’re not done: On Friday, the trio announced that on Oct. 20 they will stage “Live For Climate Relief” in support of the charity OneTreePlanted (*a “free pop-up show for former Camp Misfits attendees and all who registered for the next one in 2021 was announced on Oct 18 instead of the “Live for Climate Relief” event previously announced for Oct. 20).
Oh, and there is finally the matter of new music. “Outta My Head,” which came out Friday, is Magic Giant’s first single in almost a year. True to its title and in keeping with what the trio has done since their 2017 album, it’s hard to get out of your head, a pop-rock jolt of caffeine.
“This song is about that last ounce of energy before a breakup, you haven’t given up yet,” says Zambricki Li. “You still have the fire of the love, even though you well know it’s about to be stamped out. ‘Outta My Head’ is the last plea of a bent-not-broken love, hoping to take it to the next level before it’s gone for good.”
