After six years of silence, the Torrance-based quartet Seahaven has returned with the new single and video, “Moon,” along with the announcement of their forthcoming album “Halo of Hurt,” out Nov. 20 via Pure Noise Records.

The self-produced video for “Moon” is eerie, dark and sinister. It opens with the band performing in black-and-white in an empty basement. The camera fades to cuts of grainy footage with muted colors and spectral figures.

The visuals for “Moon” bring to life the eeriness of the music and are fitting for this time of year. With dissonant guitars, foreboding bass and ghastly sound effects, “Moon” has a Halloween vibe. Towards the end of the track, the bass and drum kit dropout as the guitars hold an evil melody as lead vocalist and guitarist Kyle Soto sings, “Felt the heat, but you didn’t learn / Play with fire and you’re bound to burn/ A lot of bones in this haunted home / You fear you’ll find what you’re looking for.” The bass and drums re-enter and the band smoothly sings “So you sleep” as the track fades.

Regarding the new album “Halo of Hurt,” Soto says, “There’s some underlying anxiety from coming up short after 2014. … I wanted to bring it back to the beginning of the band — a revived version of our younger selves in my garage in 2009. No timelines, no pressure. No need to fit a certain mold.”

Seahaven’s last album, “Reverie Lagoon: Music for Escapism Only,” came out in 2014. Emerging from what the band calls their “dark period,” “Moon” hits the mark and “Halo of Hurt” could very well follow suit.
