London-based singer-songwriter Arlo Parks glides over verses of love, growing pains and trusting yourself in the new single “Green Eyes,” featuring Clario. The single arrives with the news that Parks, who debuted as a teenager in 2018 with the single “Cola,” will release her debut LP, “Collapsed in Sunbeams,” on Jan. 29 via Transgressive Records.
The new track is joined by a video, directed by Louis Bhose, in which Parks sits on a lonely bench in a field of green. She stares into a blank door frame that transports her to an empty room. There, she revisits a multitude of experiences and encounters that presumably impacted her coming of age. The video captures the message behind the music, which Parks says is “about self-discovery, self-acceptance and adolescence. It is supposed to uplift and comfort those going through hard times.”
With delicate vocal melodies, flowing guitar notes and keyboard chords that dance around the bass, “Green Eyes” is an intimate listen that also grooves. Lyrically, “Green Eyes” showcases Parks’ passion for writing and poetry.
The 20-year-old was featured on the recent Glass Animals track, “Tangerine” and earlier this year she released singles, “Hurt,” “Black Dog” and “Eugene,” which will join “Green Eyes” on the “Collapsed in Sunbeams” LP.
