Dancey, dreamy and imbued with a sense of longing, “The Only Living Girl in LA” is the debut single from the L.A.-based trio ONES.
“The Only Living Girl in LA” boasts conga drums, big synths, acoustic guitars, vibrant vocals and a rhythm that makes you want to dance. The track finds its uplift in an elastic, ’80s-styled bassline, carried by the whoosh of production and singer Camron Palmer’s soaring vocals into the current era.
Composed of Poolside producer Alex Kemp, drummer Bill Delia of Grizfolk and Palmer, ONES creates music that slides comfortably between genres and eras of indie- and dream-pop.
Says Kemp: “The band’s got a wide age range so we represent some really different perspectives… I think that’s why it’s called ONES. It’s really about three very different people seeing the world in different ways and when we find something, whether it’s really subtle or a little bit broad that we can all get behind — it means something to say that as a collective rather than to say it on your own and that’s really what ONES is about.”
