Orange County indie-rock trio Adult Books have broken four years of silence with the release of their new single “Innocence,” along with the announcement of their signing to Taxi Gauche Records.

“Innocence” is anything but. Recorded with Johnny Bell of Crystal Antlers and mastered by Dave Cooley (Ariel Pink, Animal Collective) the track leads with a driving kick and snare, distorted guitars with chorus, power synth and chanting vocals. “Innocence” has a hypnotizing effect that urges you to slow-mosh and shoegaze. Adult Books is comprised of Nick Winfrey, Sina Salessi and Alex Galindo. This is the trio’s first new music since the release of their 2016 album, “Running from the Blows,” which featured “Firewalking” and “Suburban Girlfriend.” They have returned to the scene with conviction.

Adult Books says “’Innocence’ is about the end of a relationship and being unable to set boundaries with an emotionally demanding ex.” They add, “The song plays on the idea of sacrifice within romantic relationships — the ways we sacrifice our energy, our happiness, our own well-being.”

“Innocence” will be featured on Adult Books’ new album, expected to arrive early next year.
